“Rip Off Britain” returns this Thursday, tackling the consumer nightmares that keep us up at night. This time, the team takes aim at smartphone contract scams, where unsuspecting customers pay for new devices only to receive nothing but disappointment (or in one case, a lump of clay!). Gloria Hunniford, Julia Somerville, and Louise Minchin are on hand to assist those battling unresponsive phone companies and seeking justice.
But the smartphone scams aren’t the only issue on the agenda. The program also investigates a serious power-steering fault affecting some expensive SUVs, putting families at risk. Plus, there’s a glimmer of hope in the ongoing fight against online counterfeit goods.
“Rip Off Britain” provides a valuable service, shining a light on shady practices and offering advice to protect ourselves. Tune in to BBC One at 9:30 AM on Thursday, April 17th for the full report.
