Leave it to the guys from Roadkill to turn a perfectly good—or, in this case, perfectly awful—road trip into a full-blown automotive calamity. Airing this Tuesday at 9 PM ET on Motor Trend, Off-Road Pacer Road Trip! finds David Freiburger springing a surprise on his co-host David Chapelle: a multi-state trek in Dirt Every Day’s infamous ’76 Off-Road Pacer.
If you’re not familiar with the vehicle in question, just imagine a lifted AMC Pacer with four-wheel drive, questionable suspension, and enough mechanical gremlins to keep a team of mechanics busy for weeks. Naturally, Freiburger and Chappelle choose to ignore all warning signs and hit the road anyway, because that’s how things roll—or, more accurately, break down—on Roadkill.
This episode follows the established blueprint: a barely roadworthy vehicle, a route mapped out by fate, and a hefty dose of roadside wrenching. The off-road Pacer is a returning champion in the “what could possibly go wrong” category, which means viewers can expect the usual blend of comedic mishaps and on-the-fly repairs.
