MGM+ has set a Sunday, November 2 premiere for Robin Hood, its new 10-episode take on the classic English folk tale. The series, which stars Sean Bean and Connie Nielsen, will launch with two back-to-back episodes.
The project is described as a modern reimagining with a focus on historical authenticity and the central romance between its two leads. Set after the Norman invasion of England, the story follows Rob (Jack Patten), a Saxon forester’s son, and Marian (Lauren McQueen), the daughter of a Norman lord. Their relationship forms the core of the series as they work together to fight for justice.
As Rob becomes the leader of a band of outlaws in Sherwood Forest, Marian operates as a spy inside the halls of power. Their combined efforts are aimed at thwarting the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham, who will be played by Bean. Nielsen has been cast as the formidable Eleanor of Aquitaine.
The series is produced by Lionsgate Television and will also be available on MGM+ in several international territories, including the UK, Germany, and Latin America.
