HGTV’s hit renovation competition, Rock the Block, is back for a new season on Monday, April 14th, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. This season features a twist: two veteran teams will face off against two rookie teams in a battle for renovation supremacy.
Here’s the Lowdown: Host Ty Pennington returns to oversee the action as four teams tackle identical modern homes near Salt Lake City, Utah. Each team gets six weeks and a $250,000 budget to transform their property. Returning veteran teams feature Alison Victoria (Windy City Rehab) with Michel Smith Boyd (Luxe for Less), and Jonathan Knight with brother Jordan Knight (both of Farmhouse Fixer). The rookie teams are Chelsea and Cole DeBoer (Down Home Fab) and Kamohai and Tristyn Kalama (Renovation Aloha).
What This Means Now: This season introduces a “blind judging” element. Expert judges, including Bobby Berk (Queer Eye), Mina Starsiak Hawk (Good Bones), Jasmine Roth (Help! I Wrecked My House), Ray and Eilyn Jimenez (Divided By Design), Kim Myles (Battle on the Mountain), Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis (Unsellable Houses), and Jonathan Scott (Property Brothers) will assess the spaces without knowing which team created them. The winning team gets bragging rights, a street named after them, and a donation to No Kid Hungry.
The Bigger Picture: Rock the Block continues to be a ratings powerhouse for HGTV, attracting over 13.6 million viewers last season. This veteran-versus-rookie format adds a fresh dynamic. The two-hour premiere on April 14th features the teams working on the kitchen, dining, and living areas. The homes, built by Hamlet Homes, boast mountain views and large backyards. Fans can catch up on past seasons on Max and discovery+, and new episodes will be available to stream the day after airing, starting April 15th.
