Rome Flynn Joins ‘Godfather of Harlem’ Season 4 as Frank Lucas

Godfather of Harlem

Rome Flynn has joined the cast of the MGM+ crime drama series ‘Godfather of Harlem’ for its fourth season. The Emmy-winning actor will portray a younger version of real-life gangster Frank Lucas, who becomes the right-hand man of Forest Whitaker’s character, Bumpy Johnson.

Flynn said he was “filled with gratitude” to join the series, adding, “I have so much admiration for Forest Whitaker. Working opposite him, being led by the brilliant creator Chris Brancato, is truly a gift. An actor’s dream.”

Executive producer Chris Brancato said, “When I saw Rome’s audition, I immediately knew we’d found our man – equal parts charming and ruthless, savvy and suave. Rome is a wonderful actor who can go toe-to-toe with Forest Whitaker and our other great performers.”

‘Godfather of Harlem’ is inspired by the story of infamous 1960s New York City crime boss Bumpy Johnson, played by Whitaker. The series follows Bumpy as he returns to Harlem after a decade in prison, finding his neighborhood in disarray and under the control of the Italian mob.

In Season 4, Bumpy continues his war against New York’s Mafia families while facing a potential rival in the newly arrived Black gangster Frank Lucas. After the death of Malcolm X, Bumpy also deals with his daughter Elise’s involvement with the Black Panthers.
