In a holiday season often dominated by commercialism, ITV1 offers a more reflective program with “Royal Carols: Together at Christmas.” Spearheaded by the Princess of Wales, this special Christmas Eve service emphasises the values of love, empathy, and community support.
Developed in collaboration with Westminster Abbey and The Royal Foundation, the service focuses on highlighting those individuals who make their communities better places through simple acts of kindness and compassion. It’s a welcome reminder that everyday heroes walk among us, and perhaps an incentive to sprinkle a little extra cheer ourselves.
While the timeless carols performed by the Westminster Abbey choir will provide a familiar comfort, the program also incorporates more contemporary musical performances by Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean, and Gregory Porter. It’s a mix intended to appeal to a broad audience, bridging generations and musical tastes.
The service, filmed at the iconic Westminster Abbey, aims to be inclusive, welcoming individuals of all faiths. The themes of love and empathy resonate universally, making this a Christmas Eve program with the potential to touch a wide range of viewers.
“Royal Carols: Together at Christmas” airs Tuesday, December 24, at 7:30 PM on ITV1 and ITVX.
