“Gold Never Sweats,” the third episode of “Royal Rules of Ohio,” airs on Freeform on 29 May 2024, taking the Agyekum sisters beyond Columbus to Athens, Ohio, for a college reunion.
The episode picks up with the sisters escaping their family drama, only to encounter more turbulence in their friend group. A new “frenemy” brings up old memories of a high school betrayal, adding tension to their weekend trip.
Thelma, a 27-year-old OU alumna, grapples with a major real estate project offered by Akili, which tests her dedication to her passion as a fitness coach and the family business. Meanwhile, Brenda, a recent college graduate, takes the opportunity to celebrate being a new alumnus and make up for lost college experiences due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The episode also explores the Black Alumni Reunion (BAR) weekend at Ohio University, a tradition celebrating the university’s historical dedication to Black graduates.
Viewers are also treated to glimpses of Columbus’ Short North Arts District and Victorian Village, where Nana visits The Sanctuary on Neil for a friend’s dance practice.
