Ryan Eggold is set to appear in the next season of Law & Order, marking his first TV role since the conclusion of the medical drama New Amsterdam, in which he starred for five seasons.
Eggold will play Matt Riley, the brother of Detective Vince Riley (Reid Scott), in an episode of the long-running series’ 24th season. He joins Mariska Hargitay, who will reprise her role as Captain Olivia Benson from Law & Order: SVU in a cross-over episode, and Elizabeth Marvel, who returns as Defense Attorney Rita Calhoun, a character she played in multiple SVU episodes.
The original Law & Order series also introduces a new cast member, Maura Tierney, who joins as a lieutenant. Meanwhile, on SVU, Kevin Kane has been promoted to a series regular, playing Detective Bruno.
The show is produced by Wolf Entertainment for NBC. Dick Wolf and Arthur W. Forney are executive producers.
