The BBC has offered a first glimpse of the second season of ‘SAS Rogue Heroes’, featuring the regiment tackling new battles in unfamiliar territory. Created and written by Steven Knight, the series is produced by Kudos (a Banijay UK company) for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, in collaboration with MGM+.
Set in Spring 1943, the new season finds Paddy Mayne (Jack O’Connell) leading the SAS after David Stirling’s capture. The action shifts from North Africa to mainland Europe, but doubts from GHQ and the formation of a second unit adds trouble to their mission. The troops must demonstrate the SAS’s ongoing importance to the war effort.
Joining the returning cast—which includes Jack O’Connell, Connor Swindells (David Stirling), Sofia Boutella (Eve Mansour), and Dominic West (Dudley Clarke)—are new additions Gwilym Lee as Bill Stirling and Con O’Neill as General Montgomery.
Other returning actors are Theo Barklem-Biggs, Corin Silva, Jacob Ifan, Jacob McCarthy, Stuart Campbell, and Bobby Schofield. New recruits include Mark Rowley, Jack Barton, Stuart Thompson, Paolo De Vita, Anna Manuelli, Edward Bennett, and Matteo Franco.
The six-episode season is created, written, and executive produced by Steven Knight. Directed by Stephen Woolfenden, with Stephen Smallwood returning as producer, the series is executive produced by Karen Wilson, Emma Kingsman-Lloyd, Martin Haines for Kudos, and Nick Lambon for the BBC. Filming took place in Croatia and the UK. Commissioned by the BBC, ‘SAS Rogue Heroes’ season two is coming soon to BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK, and will be available on MGM+ in the United States, distributed internationally by Banijay Rights.
