Schedule Changes for Emmerdale and Coronation Street as ITV Airs Euro 2024

ITV has revealed schedule adjustments for its soaps, Coronation Street and Emmerdale, to accommodate the network’s coverage of Euro 2024. The tournament, taking place across June and July 2024, will occupy significant airtime, impacting the broadcast schedule of these popular soaps during the initial weeks of the competition.

On Friday, 14 June, ITV1 will kick off its live football coverage with the opening match between Scotland and host nation Germany. As a result, Coronation Street and Emmerdale will be absent from their usual schedules to make way for this highly anticipated game. Similarly, on Monday, 17 June, the Austria vs. France match will take precedence, with both soaps stepping aside once more for the live sporting event.

To ensure dedicated viewers don’t miss out on their favorite shows, ITV has strategically planned makeup episodes: Emmerdale will air an hour-long episode on Tuesday, 18 June, starting at 7 pm, followed by Coronation Street in the subsequent 8 pm hour-long slot—a rare Tuesday appearance for the Weatherfield-based soap. Both soaps will then resume their normal schedules the following day, Wednesday, 19 June, with Emmerdale at 7:30 pm and Coronation Street at 8 pm.

However, the soaps will encounter another disruption on Thursday, 20 June, when the Spain vs. Italy game airs, resulting in no hour-long episode of Emmerdale that day. Both soaps will then air as usual on Friday, 21 June, resuming their regular pattern.

These schedule adjustments reflect ITV’s commitment to balancing live football coverage during Euro 2024 with the dedicated audiences of their flagship soaps.
