Scrublands Season 2 on AMC+ This May: Homecoming Turns Deadly, Partner Suspect

Scrublands Silver Key Art

A journalist seeking quiet finds his friend dead and his partner accused in the place he once called home. That’s the sudden turn of events confronting Martin Scarsden as the crime series Scrublands returns for its second run.

This new chapter of the Australian series, based on Chris Hammer’s novel “Silver,” is set to premiere on AMC+ starting Thursday, May 29, 2025. Fresh episodes will follow each Thursday, picking up the story of Martin Scarsden and Mandy Bond, played by Luke Arnold and Bella Heathcote respectively, about a year after the events of the first season.

The plot centers on Martin’s return to his childhood town, Port Silver, located on the Western Australia coast. He hopes for a calmer life there, but those plans shatter when a friend from his youth is murdered. The immediate problem intensifies when Mandy, his partner, becomes the prime suspect in the killing.

Pulled into the investigation by circumstance and loyalty, Martin grapples with doubt regarding Mandy’s possible involvement. His search for answers forces him to look closely at the town’s buried secrets and revisit parts of his own past he may have wished to leave undisturbed. His efforts expose uncomfortable truths about the place and its people.

Ben Young directed the season, with writing credits going to Felicity Packard, Fiona Kelly, and Jock Serong. This series stands as an AMC+ original, brought to the screen by Easy Tiger Productions alongside Third Act Stories. Filming took place in Augusta, Western Australia. The show is presented by Stan in association with 9Network, with Sphere Abacus handling its international distribution. Major production investment came from Screenwest, Lotterywest, and the WA Regional Screen Fund.
