Season 7 Premiere, Pilgrimage, 29 March, BBC Two
A new season of the show ‘Pilgrimage‘ is coming to BBC Two and iPlayer, featuring seven well-known figures from different backgrounds embarking on a spiritual journey along the North Wales Pilgrim’s Way.
Among the participants are wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan, entrepreneur Spencer Matthews, journalist Sonali Shah, comedian Eshaan Akbar, Catholic Amanda Lovett, actor Tom Rosenthal, and TV personality Christine McGuinness, each with their unique perspectives and beliefs.
The North Wales Pilgrim’s Way, established in 2011, weaves through ancient churches and stunning natural landscapes, offering a blend of history, spirituality, and scenic beauty. Stretching over 220km, the pilgrimage challenges the celebrities with rugged terrains, including the formidable Mount Snowdon.
Throughout the two-week journey, the pilgrims embrace a simple lifestyle, carrying their own gear and staying in various accommodations, from caravans to meditation centres. Their ultimate goal is Bardsey Island, a mystical place steeped in Christian history, where the boundaries between heaven and earth blur, symbolising a promise of rebirth.
The pilgrimage culminates in crossing the treacherous Bardsey Sound, testing the participants’ resolve and determination. Will they complete the pilgrimage safely, overcoming the physical and spiritual hurdles along the way?
‘Pilgrimage: The Road Through North Wales’ premieres on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer on March 29, 2024 at 9.00 pm, inviting viewers to join the celebrities on a profound and transformative journey of self-discovery and reflection.
