In this episode, Tim and Siddy explore Old Street, a unique station serving both the Northern line and mainline trains. The station, which first opened in 1901, has undergone significant changes over the years, but traces of its early history remain for those in the know.
Tim discovers a hidden passage with an original fully-tiled vaulted ceiling, accessible through a tiny doorway. Meanwhile, Siddy uncovers a long-forgotten staircase, last used in the 1920s, complete with a vintage sign listing the Northern Line tube stops.
Siddy also ventures to Hampstead, the deepest station on the entire Underground network. Here, she rides on top of the lift to get a closer look at the record-breaking 55-metre lift shaft. Back at the museum depot, Tim meets a pioneering woman who was the first female driver on the Victoria Line in the 1970s. She shares her experiences of working for London Transport and her journey through the ranks, breaking barriers as she advanced her career.
