On Wednesday night See No Evil examines the tragic death of 27-year-old Corey Lee Hughes, who was shot and killed in Evansville, Indiana, in June 2019. The episode, airing on Investigation Discovery, reveals how police utilized security footage and a neighbor’s camera to identify a suspicious SUV leaving the scene and track down its driver.

On that fateful day, a 911 caller reported finding Hughes lying face-down in a pool of blood at his home. Responders arrived to find him in the kitchen with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The house showed signs of forced entry, with the front door wide open and a broken window.

The investigation led to the arrest of 38-year-old Brandon Key Brown on preliminary charges of murder and firearm possession by a felon. Despite initially denying his involvement and presence at the scene, Brown later admitted to being at Hughes’ home and possessing a handgun. He claimed that Hughes swung a knife at him, cutting his finger, and that he blacked out, only remembering driving away afterward.

Brown allegedly disposed of the gun and burned the clothes he wore during the incident. Investigators searched Hughes’ home and found a spent .380 shell casing but no gun. They also discovered a photo Hughes took of himself just 20 minutes before the 911 call, providing a crucial timeline for the events.
