The season 13 premiere of See No Evil airs on Investigation Discovery on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 9:00 p.m. The episode, titled “She’s Fake,” looks into the disappearance of 34-year-old single mother Joleen Cummings from Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Joleen Cummings was last seen on May 12, 2018, leaving her workplace, Tangles Hair Salon in Yulee, Nassau County. Two days later, on Mother’s Day and Cummings’ birthday, her mother, Anne Johnson, reported her missing when she failed to show up for work. The investigation uncovered CCTV footage of Cummings’ car in an isolated parking lot in the middle of the night, leading to a shocking discovery.
The case takes a surprising turn when the footage reveals an unlikely suspect, 53-year-old Kimberly Kessler, a colleague of Cummings. Kessler is seen abandoning Cummings’ Ford Explorer in a Home Depot parking lot. She was later found sleeping in a car at an Interstate 95 rest stop in St. Johns County, using a fake name.
Kessler’s true motive is unveiled: she wanted Cummings’ hair clients and harbored ill-will towards her, going so far as to call her a meth addict. Cummings had caught on to Kessler’s deception, referring to her as fake and expressing her intention to look into her background online. Despite the absence of Cummings’ body, Kessler was found guilty of first-degree murder.
