Channel 5 is doubling down on post-Christmas escapism with the premiere of “The Serial Killer’s Wife,” a four-part thriller that asks the age-old question: how well do you really know your spouse? Annabel Scholey and Jack Farthing star as Beth and Tom Fairchild, a seemingly idyllic couple whose world implodes when Tom, a respected doctor, is arrested for the murder of his former assistant.
As the police start digging, more cold cases emerge, all pointing towards the mild-mannered Dr. Fairchild. Beth, understandably bewildered, finds herself questioning everything she thought she knew about her husband and their meticulously crafted life together. In the first episode, Beth provides Tom with an alibi, initially securing his release. But then comes that classic thriller twist: a new piece of evidence throws everything into question, raising the stakes and pushing Beth closer to the terrifying truth.
Adapted from Alice Hunter’s novel, “The Serial Killer’s Wife” features a supporting cast including Luke Treadaway as Tom’s possibly too-helpful best friend, Adam, along with Angela Griffin, Julie Graham, Kiran Shobna Gulati, Hari Dhillon, and Morgana Robinson. This Channel 5 premiere follows the show’s initial run on Paramount+, offering another chance for viewers to unravel the secrets lurking beneath the surface of this seemingly perfect marriage. Just how far will Beth go to uncover the truth about her husband? And how much is she willing to ignore?
