Seven Partners with UN Women Australia for International Women’s Day 2025

Australian TV News

Seven West Media is once again the official Australian broadcast partner for International Women’s Day (IWD), marking its fifth year of partnership with UN Women Australia. The theme for this year’s IWD, which was on Saturday, March 8, is “March Forward: For All Women and Girls.”

Here’s the Lowdown: Seven is supporting IWD through various initiatives. Internally, they hosted a “Women Breaking Barriers” event for staff featuring Marcia Hines and hosted by Kylie Gillies, along with a “Women and Super” webinar. Externally, 7NEWS presenters hosted UN Women’s IWD events across Australia on Friday, March 7, with Mel McLaughlin in Sydney, Melina Sarris in Melbourne, Tina Altieri in Perth, and Katrina Blowers in Brisbane.

What This Means Now: Seven is actively promoting IWD and its message of gender equality. The company acknowledges that while it has made progress in this area, there’s still work to be done.

The Bigger Picture: This partnership highlights Seven’s commitment to gender equality, both within its own organization and in the wider community. By using its platform to amplify UN Women Australia’s message, Seven is contributing to the broader conversation about women’s rights and empowerment. The tie-in with UN Women connects Seven to a global movement, now thirty years since the Beijing Platform for Action.
