The Bigger Picture: The Good Friday Appeal is a major Australian fundraising tradition. The telethon aims to gather significant funds for vital children’s healthcare. The integration of the AFL match, including a half-time kick featuring club legends and donations per goal, alongside evening musical performances from acts like Lane Pittman, the cast of Beetlejuice The Musical, Mahalia Barnes, 2025 Australian Idol winner Marshall Hamburger, and The Voice finalist Robbie Dolan, makes this a large-scale entertainment event focused entirely on supporting the hospital.
