Shameik Moore Joins ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ as Franchise-Favorite Breeze; STARZ Sets Final Season

Power Book III Raising Kanan

The Power Universe is pulling a major card before the endgame. Shameik Moore has officially joined Power Book III: Raising Kanan as Branford “Breeze” Frady, a pivotal character in franchise lore—and he’s not just passing through. Moore’s debut in the Season 4 finale tees him up as a series regular for the show’s fifth and final season, STARZ confirmed today.

The move lands as Raising Kanan prepares to close the loop on its prequel arc, with creator/showrunner Sascha Penn locking the endpoint he’s been building toward since launch. “We always saw this as a five-season story,” Penn said.

Moore’s casting as Breeze is both strategic and symbolic. In the original Power timeline, Breeze is the Jamaica, Queens drug kingpin who mentors a young Kanan Stark (later played by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson), along with James “Ghost” St. Patrick and Tommy Egan. His murder by Ghost set the larger franchise in motion.

With Moore stepping into the role, Raising Kanan now inches closer to the canon touchpoints fans have been waiting for. His arrival in the Season 4 finale, introduced by Snaps (Wendell Pierce) and Pop (Erika Woods), finally ties Kanan’s (MeKai Curtis) origin story to the broader mythology—and signals that the endgame will move fast.

Moore is no stranger to origin stories. He’s best known for voicing Miles Morales in Sony’s animated Spider-Verse franchise and starred as Raekwon in Hulu’s Wu-Tang: An American Saga. He’ll also appear in RZA’s One Spoon of Chocolate, premiering at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival.

The final season of Raising Kanan will bring the prequel full circle, bridging the gap to the events of the original series and locking in the backstory of one of the Power Universe’s most pivotal—and eventually doomed—figures.

Produced by Lionsgate Television, the Power Universe remains under the creative banner of Courtney A. Kemp, who exec produces through her End of Episode shingle alongside Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson via G-Unit Film and Television.

All four seasons of Power Book III: Raising Kanan are now streaming on the STARZ app and on-demand. Season 5 is expected to premiere later this year.
