Sight Unseen

The CW’s Sight Unseen returns with its third episode, “Jake,” airing on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. The episode centers on Tess Avery, a former homicide detective who is searching for her missing brother, Lucas, while also investigating the identity of a John Doe.

In her quest for answers, Tess, played by Dolly Lewis, inserts herself into Jake’s investigation, but she ends up finding the killer instead.

The episode “Jake” continues the show’s narrative arc, which follows Tess, a blind former homicide detective who teams up with Sunny, a remote seeing-eye guide and agoraphobe, to solve crimes that elude the police. The series, inspired by one of the co-creators’ experiences with sight loss, offers a fresh perspective on the crime-solving genre.

In this installment, Tess confronts conflicting emotions as she fears for her brother’s life while also being driven to do what she loves most—solve the case.

“Jake” also features Daniel Gillies as Jake Campbell, Tess’s former homicide partner. Their dynamic adds depth to the episode, especially given their shared history and the fact that Jake was almost killed in an incident that led to Tess’s vision loss and subsequent departure from the force.

Sight Unseen is created by Karen Troubetzkoy and Nikolijne Troubetzkoy, and it premiered on The CW on April 3, 2024. The show has received praise for its representation of individuals with disabilities and its unique blend of entertainment and authenticity in portraying the lived experiences of disabled people.
