The popular BBC crime drama, Silent Witness, is set to return to BBC One and iPlayer in early 2025, introducing new talent to the Lyell Centre. Joining Emilia Fox’s Dr. Nikki Alexander and David Caves’ Jack Hodgson are Maggie Steed as the Centre’s new head, Harriet Maven, and Francesca Mills as crime analyst Kit Brooks.
While details about Maven and Brooks’ characters remain limited—aside from Brooks working alongside Jack—the arrival of new team members promises fresh dynamics and intriguing storylines. The series, a long-time viewer favorite averaging 7.4 million viewers in its latest season, aims to continue its success with five new, two-part stories.
The 2025 series opens with a disturbing case: the discovery of a vulnerable elderly woman’s body in a cave. This unsettling beginning will undoubtedly put the team, including the newcomers, to the test. Both Steed and Mills have expressed their excitement about joining the acclaimed drama.
Pre-production for the 2025 series is already underway in Birmingham, with filming scheduled for early next year. Meanwhile, fans can revisit past Silent Witness investigations on BBC iPlayer.
