The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror XXXV – Stop-Motion Terror and Sentient Jeans

The Simpsons Key Art

Springfield’s annual Halloween tradition returns, and this year, “The Simpsons” isn’t holding back on the spooky shenanigans. “Treehouse of Horror XXXV” appears to be a grab bag of bizarre delights, from politically charged behemoths wreaking havoc to a Victorian-era Mr. Burns getting his just desserts (or rather, lack thereof) from spectral workers. One can almost picture Burns’ monocle popping out in terror.

But the segment that truly piques curiosity is the stop-motion story, “Denim.” Homer bonding with a pair of extraterrestrial jeans? It’s certainly a novel concept, even for a series known for its outlandish plots. Will these trousers be a sentient fashion statement, a gateway to another dimension, or just a really good pair of dungarees with an affinity for donuts? It’s “The Simpsons,” so the possibilities are as infinite as the iterations of Kang and Kodos.

Let’s hope this “Treehouse of Horror” installment delivers the clever satire and absurd humor the series is known for. Though, with sentient jeans in the mix, it’s hard to imagine it won’t at least be memorably strange.

The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror XXXV (Season 36 Episode 5) airs Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 8:00 pm on FOX.
