Lifetime’s latest holiday offering, Sincerely, Truly, Christmas, asks the age-old question: what if getting fired right before the holidays turned out to be…a good thing? Okay, maybe not good, but what if it led to magical wish-granting and the ability to hear people’s innermost Christmas desires? That’s the premise of this festive film, which centers on Christina (Paula Brancati), an event planner suddenly out of a job and desperate for a Christmas miracle. And a miracle she gets, albeit a slightly strange one.
Christina, in a moment of holiday despair, makes a wish. And wouldn’t you know it, this wish grants her the power to hear what everyone wants for Christmas. This newfound ability, while potentially useful for holiday shopping, becomes Christina’s ticket back to the career she loves, if she plays her cards right. Her plan? Convince reclusive musician Dan Copen (Howard Hoover), a one-hit wonder clinging to the past, to come out of retirement for a special Christmas event. Surely that would impress her former employers.
But persuading a hermit-like musician isn’t a simple task, especially one as seemingly set in his ways as Dan. This is where Robert (Jake Epstein), a charming realtor with a gift-giving dilemma, enters the picture. Robert needs the perfect Christmas present for his son, and Christina, with her magical eavesdropping skills, seems perfectly positioned to help. But will this unlikely partnership lead Christina to Dan and ultimately back to her job? Or will the whole scheme unravel faster than a cheap string of Christmas lights?
Sincerely, Truly, Christmas hits all the familiar Lifetime holiday movie beats: career setbacks, unexpected romance, a touch of magic, and the inevitable heartwarming resolution. It’s comfortable, predictable, and exactly the kind of escapism that draws viewers to the network every holiday season.
Sincerely, Truly, Christmas airs Sunday, November 24 at 8:00 PM on Lifetime.
