Netflix adds another series to its roster this Thursday, May 22, with the premiere of “Sirens.” This darkly comedic drama explores themes of women, power, and class with a healthy dose of suspense.
The story revolves around Devon, whose suspicions about her sister Simone’s new boss, Michaela Kell, quickly escalate into something far more unsettling. Michaela, played with chilling charisma by Julianne Moore, leads a lifestyle so lavish, so exclusive, it borders on the cultish. Simone appears completely enthralled, leaving Devon increasingly worried about her sister’s well-being.
As the story unfolds over a weekend at the Kells’ luxurious beach estate, the tension mounts. With Kevin Bacon playing Peter Kell, the series has a strong pedigree both in front of and behind the camera. Molly Smith Metzler is the creative force behind “Sirens,” serving as creator and executive producer. The pilot episode was produced and directed by Nicole Kassell. Other executive producers include Colin McKenna, Dani Gorin, Margot Robbie, and Tom Ackerley. The supporting cast includes Bill Camp as Bruce DeWitt, Felix Solis as Jose, Glenn Howerton as Ethan Corbin III, and Milly Alcock as Simone DeWitt.
