In the seventh episode of Sister Boniface Mysteries’ second series, the quiet town of Great Slaughter is abuzz with excitement over the upcoming talent show, which offers a substantial cash prize and features a celebrity judge, the renowned actress Jane Beaufort (Antonia Kinlay).
However, the atmosphere takes a dark turn when the ambitious magician, Terry Smith (Nigel Boyle), also known as “The Great Faldini,” meets an untimely end during his rehearsal. Sister Boniface (Lorna Watson) finds herself drawn into the mystery, uncovering evidence of trick tampering that leads to a deadly outcome.
The investigation intensifies as Felix (Jerry Iwu) interviews a diverse range of suspects, including the formidable stage mother, Sylvie Simmons (Amy Forrest), and her daughter, Tina Tiny (Georgia Conlan). The list of potential culprits also includes Terry’s former stage partner, Curly Cuddles (John Thomson), a clown with a questionable past.
As Sister Boniface and Felix delve deeper, they uncover a threatening note addressed to Terry by the enigmatic “Debra Cadabra” and a suspicious can of hairspray, indicating that the murderer may have had a personal vendetta against Terry or sought to eliminate the competition.
Adding to the intrigue, Sam (Max Brown) seems uncharacteristically absent, choosing to focus on the annual audit instead of actively participating in the investigation. What could he be hiding?
