Sky Documentaries is expanding its true crime collection in 2025, adding four new original series. This follows the success of previous programmes like Libby Are You Home Yet? and The Essex Murders, aiming to look closely at significant British cases and the issues surrounding them.

Here’s the Lowdown: The newly announced titles arriving in 2025 are: Bibaa & Nicole: Murder in the Park, which details the killings of two sisters and subsequent police failings; Who Killed Goldfinger?, reopening the unsolved murder of notorious criminal John Palmer; The Girl Who Caught a Killer, telling the story of a childhood kidnap survivor whose testimony helped convict a double murderer decades later; and Amsterdam Narcos, the next chapter in the Narcos documentary series exploring the Dutch city’s rise as Europe’s drug hub.

What This Means Now: Sky is clearly investing further in the true crime genre, a category that consistently draws large audiences. The focus seems to be on cases with significant public impact and often unresolved questions or controversies, particularly concerning institutional failings or long fights for justice.

The Bigger Picture: These commissions suggest a strategy focused on depth and sensitivity, placing victim and family experiences at the centre. By selecting stories that touch on police conduct, the long-term effects of crime, and the history of organised crime, Sky Documentaries aims to create programmes that spark discussion about societal issues beyond the specific cases themselves. All titles are set for Sky Documentaries and NOW in 2025, except Bibaa & Nicole, which arrives in May.
