Sky Secures The Batman Spin-Off: “The Penguin”

The Penguin

Sky has announced that “The Penguin,” a spin-off series from the 2022 film “The Batman,” will be airing exclusively in the UK on Sky and its streaming service, NOW, later in 2024. This marks an exciting addition to Sky’s lineup, bringing the iconic DC villain to the small screen.

The eight-part drama series stars Colin Farrell, reprising his role as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, the disfigured crime lord and former lieutenant of Carmine Falcone, who seeks to seize control of Gotham City’s criminal underworld. The series is set just one week after the events of “The Batman,” exploring the power vacuum left by Falcone’s death and the rise of new criminal kingpins.

“The Penguin” is created by Lauren LeFranc and directed by Craig Zobel, with Matt Reeves, the director of “The Batman,” serving as an executive producer. The series promises to explore the inner life of the villainous Penguin, showcasing his awkwardness, strength, and heartbreak, while also delivering a gritty and violent crime saga.

The cast of “The Penguin” also includes Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, Michael Zegen as Alberto Falcone, and Michael Kelly as Johnny Vitti, among others.

With “The Batman” receiving acclaim for its gritty portrayal of Gotham City, this spin-off series is highly anticipated by fans eager to explore the seedy underworld created by Matt Reeves. Sky subscribers can look forward to an intense and thrilling watch when “The Penguin” arrives on their screens later this year.
