Sky has confirmed a July 2025 premiere for Death of A Showjumper, a three-part docuseries revisiting the 2020 death of rising equestrian talent Katie Simpson.

The project marks the latest Sky Original to target high-profile UK true crime stories, anchoring its narrative in the competitive world of Northern Ireland’s horse scene. Simpson’s death was initially ruled a suicide, but the case took a turn when local scrutiny uncovered potential links to an earlier incident—and to a prominent insider.

The series draws on testimony from investigators, family members and figures close to Jonathan Creswell, a champion trainer and former partner of Simpson’s sister. Creswell became a central figure in the case after new information prompted a deeper inquiry into his connections and conduct.

Sky’s true crime output has increasingly favoured tightly packaged, access-driven investigations. Death of A Showjumper fits that model, aiming for narrative control through first-person accounts, case file reconstructions and courtroom fallout.

The series will stream on NOW and air on Sky Crime from July.
