Gary Oldman is back in trench coat and trench mood as Slow Horses locks in a September 24 premiere date on Apple TV+, with the Emmy- and BAFTA-winning espionage drama rolling out its fifth season across six episodes.
The new season kicks off with a two-episode launch, followed by weekly installments through October 22. Nick Mohammed, fresh off three seasons on Ted Lasso, joins the Slough House crew in a special guest spot—adding another layer of comic tension to the show’s mix of bureaucratic malaise and shadowy MI5 intrigue.
Season 5 finds the misfit agents caught up in another internal mess, this time after suspicions arise over Roddy Ho’s new girlfriend, whose arrival coincides with a string of bizarre events. Naturally, the trail leads straight through the basement offices of Slough House—and it’s Oldman’s Jackson Lamb, blunt as ever, who has to make sense of the chaos.
The ensemble remains stacked. Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, and Rosalind Eleazar all return, along with director Saul Metzstein, whose work on Season 3 earned him an Emmy nod. Will Smith adapts from Mick Herron’s novels, with production handled by See-Saw Films.
Slow Horses landed nine Emmy nominations for its third season, including a win for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series. It’s already renewed through Season 6.
