Snapped: Katrina Fouts (Oxygen, Sunday, June 16, 2024)

On Sunday June 16, the Oxygen network presents a new episode of Snapped, looking into the case of Katrina Fouts, a 56-year-old Indiana woman convicted of conspiracy to commit murder and failure to report human remains. On April 24, 2020, the body of 50-year-old David Fouts was discovered in a ditch near Noblesville, Indiana, sparking a suspicious death investigation.

David Fouts was found with his pockets turned out and duct tape residue on his wrists and ankles, indicating foul play. Autopsy results revealed chunks of poisonous mushrooms in his stomach, but the cause of death remained inconclusive. Suspicion fell on Katrina Fouts due to her internet search history, which included queries about deadly mushrooms, Indiana homicide laws, and lie detector tests. She also never reported her husband missing.

Katrina Fouts was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and failure to report human remains, while her co-defendant and former police officer Terry Hopkins faced similar counts. However, the case took a turn when Hopkins died before standing trial. A jury ultimately found Katrina Fouts not guilty of murder but convicted her of the lesser charges, leading to a 34-year prison sentence.
