In the third episode of Snowpiercer’s fourth season, titled “Life Source,” Layton takes charge and demands the use of Big Alice to rescue Liana. However, Ruth, now the mayor of New Eden, refuses to comply as Big Alice serves as the town’s primary power source.
Determined to find a solution, Layton tasks Javi with engineering a temporary fix, jury-rigging a way to provide New Eden with three weeks’ worth of electricity.
This episode sees tensions rising between Layton and Ruth, with Layton insisting on the urgency of the rescue mission and Ruth firmly standing her ground to protect New Eden’s interests. With the clock ticking, Layton, Javi, and the rest of the Snowpiercer crew must balance their desire to help Liana with the very real possibility of leaving New Eden in a vulnerable state.
