In this episode of Songs of Praise, presenter Claire McCollum ventures to Crathie Kirk in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. Located near Balmoral Castle, this church is cherished by locals, visitors, and even the royal family for its stunning Highland setting.
Claire has the privilege of meeting Crathie’s minister, Rev Ken Mackenzie, who also serves as the royal family’s domestic chaplain. Together, they immerse themselves in the breathtaking scenery and look into the church’s history and its unique connection to royalty.
The episode also features a local ghillie on the River Dee, who shares how faith and fly-fishing intertwine. Claire then explores the majestic Cairngorms with an award-winning Christian writer, drawing inspiration from the surroundings to craft a poem reflective of her experience.
The musical highlight of the episode includes specially recorded performances from Crathie Kirk, including a brand new hymn tune commissioned by the King and composed by the celebrated Paul Mealor.
