In honor of Neurodiversity Week, “Songs of Praise” turns its attention to the intersection of faith and acceptance this Sunday. Rev Kate Bottley travels to Cheshire to meet Christians who are celebrating their neurodiversity and challenging common misconceptions.
Kate visits with Rev Emma Speake at Brick by Brick, a worship community specifically designed for neurodiverse families in Runcorn. It’s a place where differences are celebrated, and the community embraces the unique ways in which people connect with their faith. Kate also spends time with Sally Coles-Robertson, a Christian salon owner who lives with five neurodiverse conditions. Sally shares how her faith has shaped her life, offering a powerful testament to the strength and resilience of the human spirit.
Adding another perspective to the conversation is TV quizmaster Anne Hegerty, known as The Governess from “The Chase.” Anne discusses the importance of her Catholic faith and the ways in which autism influences her beliefs. The episode, interspersed with uplifting musical performances, including “How Great Is Our God,” “All Things Bright and Beautiful,” and “Mighty to Save,” aims to highlight how everyone is created in God’s image. “Songs of Praise: Celebrating Neurodiversity” airs Sunday, March 23 at 12:10 PM on BBC One.
