Songs of Praise celebrates Pentecost with a countrywide chorus of hymns this Sunday at 1:15 PM GMT on BBC One. Presenter Pam Rhodes guides viewers through a selection of nine musical pieces, filmed at locations ranging from Huddersfield Town Hall to Canterbury Cathedral.
At the heart of this week’s episode is a visit to Launde Abbey in Leicestershire, where the show takes a closer look at the meaning of Pentecost—often called the birthday of the Christian church—and the role of the Holy Spirit within the faith.
Expect classic hymns alongside newer songs, all tied together by a theme of spiritual renewal. Leading the charge are Graham Kendrick, performing Shine, Jesus, Shine from St David’s Church in Exeter; Aaron Baxter, leading Spirit of the Living God at Way Church in Wigan; and Noel Robinson with O God of Burning, Cleansing Flame at the Church of Christ the Cornerstone in Milton Keynes. Volney Morgan and New-Ye round out the lineup, performing Bless the Lord at House of Rock in London.
Songs of Praise offers a moment of musical reflection, airing Sunday at 1:15 PM GMT on BBC One.
