Spooked Ireland “Achill – Co. Mayo” (Travel, Friday, November 22, 2024)

Spooked Ireland Key Art

“Spooked Ireland” is off to Achill Island, and surprise, surprise, it’s not for the surfing. This week, the team parks itself at the Valley House, a hostel apparently so popular with the spectral set, the living are an afterthought. Now, haunted hostels aren’t exactly new territory for paranormal TV, but “Spooked Ireland” aims to give it a uniquely Irish spin. Whether that involves banshees complaining about the plumbing or leprechauns hiding the remote, we’ll have to see.

The big selling point? A spirit stubbornly refusing to vacate the premises. This ghost, presumably unimpressed with the hostel’s TripAdvisor rating, is causing enough commotion to warrant a full-blown investigation. Every room in the Valley House is supposedly teeming with paranormal activity, which either suggests an incredibly active afterlife or a severe lack of soundproofing. Vogue and the crew will undoubtedly attempt to communicate with these lingering residents, possibly offering a complimentary continental breakfast as an incentive to cooperate.

There will be jump scares and enough spooky whispers to make you sleep with the lights on. If you’re the sort who enjoys a good shiver down your spine while simultaneously planning your next Irish getaway (just maybe not to this particular hostel), “Spooked Ireland” should offer a suitably eerie viewing experience.
