Netflix has revealed a special teaser trailer and poster for the second season of Squid Game, announcing its premiere date as December 26, 2024. The reveal occurred during the GEEKED WEEK LIVE 2024 event and offered a glimpse into the new chapter of this hugely popular series.
Three years have passed since the events of the first season, and Player 456, who previously won the deadly game, has forgone his plans to move to the states. Instead, he returns with a newfound determination. Gi-hun finds himself drawn back into the treacherous world of the survival game, where he once again risks his life alongside new participants, all vying for the enormous prize of 45.6 billion won.
Hwang Dong-hyuk, the director of the series, made history at the 74th Primetime Emmys® as the first Asian director to win the award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. He returns to helm the new season, serving as director, writer, and producer.
The cast of Squid Game: Season 2 features Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo, who reprise their roles from the first season. They are joined by new cast members Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.
