NBC’s St. Denis Medical continues its comedic exploration of hospital hierarchy and workplace antics in “Salamat You Too.” This week, the Oregon-based medical team faces a trifecta of typical workplace woes: mean girls, parking disputes, and attention-seeking colleagues. It’s the kind of stuff that makes you grateful for your relatively sane (one hopes) office environment.
Alex, never one to intentionally ruffle feathers, somehow finds herself on the wrong side of the ER’s clique of “mean girls.” Just how bad can it get when you accidentally offend the self-proclaimed queens of the emergency room? If previous episodes are any indication, probably pretty awkward.
Meanwhile, the simmering rivalry between Ron and Serena escalates into a full-blown parking war. One can only imagine the passive-aggressive notes and strategically placed coffee cups involved. This petty conflict is sure to provide some much-needed comic relief amidst the usual hospital chaos.
Then there’s Bruce, apparently incapable of sharing the spotlight. His struggle to cede attention hints at a potential power struggle brewing within the hospital ranks. Will he learn the importance of teamwork, or will his ego continue to inflate like a rogue surgical glove?
St. Denis Medical, with its multi-camera format and classic sitcom setup, doesn’t exactly reinvent the wheel. But what it does offer is a consistently amusing look at the everyday absurdities of a workplace, in this case, one with slightly higher stakes than your average paper-pushing office. While the show’s humor occasionally veers into the predictable, the strength of its ensemble cast – Allison Tolman, David Alan Grier, Josh Lawson, and Wendi McLendon-Covey among them – generally keeps things afloat.
