A&E’s “Stadium Lockup” takes viewers onto the field – or rather, around the field – with an inside look at the security operations required to keep a major stadium running smoothly. The series follows law enforcement, private security, and medical personnel as they deal with the unpredictable challenges that arise when you pack tens of thousands of fans into a single venue.

In “Preseason Problems,” airing Wednesday, May 21 at 9:00 PM ET, the focus is on the blend of rookie and veteran security staff members. Viewers get to see the team address everything from reuniting a lost child with her panicked family to investigating a suspicious individual hiding in the women’s restroom. And then there’s the matter of ejecting a large, rowdy group of fans, a situation that always has the potential to turn ugly.

With unprecedented access to the stadium command center, complete with its wall of CCTV monitors, “Stadium Lockup” provides a fascinating perspective on the behind-the-scenes work that goes into ensuring fan safety – and enforcing the strict code of conduct. It’s a reminder that there’s a whole other game being played beyond the bright lights of the main event.
