Star Trek: Lower Decks Beams Down to NYCC for Final Season Preview

Star Trek Lower Decks Final Season Key Art

Paramount+ brought Star Trek: Lower Decks to New York Comic Con for a final season send-off, complete with an exclusive clip from the premiere and a panel featuring voice actors Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, and Eugene Cordero, alongside showrunner Mike McMahan.

The new key art, a clever nod to Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, also made its debut. While the final frontier for Lower Decks might be a promotion out of the lower decks, this season promises plenty of familiar Trek shenanigans before the Cerritos crew moves on (and up).

Season 5 picks up with the U.S.S. Cerritos assigned to patching “space potholes” – pesky subspace rifts wreaking havoc in the Alpha Quadrant. But pothole duty wouldn’t be true Lower Decks without a healthy dose of Orion wars, angry Klingons, diplomatic disasters, and the occasional murder mystery. Oh, and the crew’s own career aspirations, which might be the most terrifying challenge of all.

This final season, premiering October 24th with a two-episode drop on Paramount+, is both a celebration of these perpetually underappreciated ensigns and a bittersweet farewell.

Can Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, and Rutherford handle the pressure of potential promotions? Will they finally escape the lower decks and boldly go where no ensign has gone before? We have ten episodes to find out.
