Starz Announces Additional Casting for “Outlander: Blood of My Blood”

STARZ has announced additional casting for several roles in its upcoming Outlander spinoff, “Outlander: Blood of My Blood.” The series will explore the lives and relationships of Jamie Fraser’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), and Claire Beauchamp Randall Fraser’s parents, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), in two parallel love stories set in different time periods.

Joining the cast are Brian McCardie, Jhon Lumsden, Sara Vickers, and Peter Mullan. McCardie, a Scottish actor known for his roles in “Time” and “Rob Roy,” will portray Isaac Grant, the leader of Clan Grant. Lumsden, a Scottish actor trained at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, will play Malcolm Grant, Isaac’s son and a potential suitor for Ellen MacKenzie.

Vickers, a Scottish stage and screen actor recognized for her role as Joan Thursday in the “Inspector Morse” prequel “Endeavour,” has been cast as Davina Porter, a housekeeper in the Lovat household and mother to Brian Fraser. The character is named after the narrator of the Outlander audiobook series, a nod to the devoted fans of author Diana Gabaldon.

Mullan, a veteran Scottish actor and filmmaker, will take on the role of Red Jacob MacKenzie, laird of Clan MacKenzie and father to Ellen, Dougal, Colum, Janet, and Jocasta.

“Outlander: Blood of My Blood” is currently in production in Scotland, adding to the rich history of the Outlander franchise, which is inspired by Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling novels. The original show, “Outlander,” will conclude with its eighth season, while the spinoff will offer a new perspective on the beloved characters’ family histories.
