STARZ has released a teaser for the twisted coming-of-rage story, “Sweetpea,” set to debut in October 2024 as a STARZ original in the US and Canada. The series stars Ella Purnell (“Yellowjackets,” “Fallout,” “Sweetbitter”) as Rhiannon Lewis, a quiet wallflower who discovers a liberating taste for murder.
In “Sweetpea,” Rhiannon’s life is turned upside down as she faces various frustrations, including a lack of recognition at work, romantic troubles, and her father’s illness. Pushed over the edge, Rhiannon undergoes a transformation, shedding her wallflower persona and embracing a new, intoxicating power. The series explores her journey as she deals with her newfound freedom and attempts to keep her dark secret.
The ensemble cast includes Nicôle Lecky as Julia, Jon Pointing as Craig, Calam Lynch as AJ, and Leah Harvey as Marina. The cast also features Jeremy Swift as Norman and Dustin Demri-Burns as Jeff.
Ella Purnell, who serves as an executive producer, said about the series, stating, “I truly cannot wait for the world to meet Sweetpea!… At its core, the series is about a woman finally finding her voice, told through a uniquely dark and comedic lens.”
“Sweetpea,” has been acquired directly from the UK’s Sky Studios.
