Steve Harvey, television personality, comedian, and author, is taking on a serious role in a new documentary special focused on his mentorship program for young men. “Steve Harvey’s Camp: Building Men, Inspiring Dreams” is a look at Harvey’s efforts to guide and inspire young men raised without fathers. The special, airing on Dr. Phil’s Merit TV on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 9 p.m. ET, documents a gathering of 250 fatherless youth at Harvey’s Georgia ranch.
While Harvey’s comedic timing and boisterous personality are well-known, this documentary presents a different side of the entertainer. The special will highlight the long-term commitment Harvey has made to his mentorship program, which has been operating for over 15 years. Joining Harvey in this endeavor are some familiar faces, including Dr. Phil McGraw, former NFL quarterback Cam Newton, and Grammy-winning artist Kirk Franklin.
The documentary serves as a showcase not just for the camp itself, but also for the broader work of the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation. The foundation also supports single mothers through its Single Mothers Enrichment Summit, taking a holistic approach to strengthening families and communities. This new special marks another step in a growing partnership between Steve Harvey and Merit TV, which already carries reruns of Harvey’s previous daytime talk show, “Steve.”
But before the main event airs, viewers can get a sneak peek and an opportunity to contribute to the cause. A special “Dr. Phil Primetime” episode airing Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET, will focus on the camp and launch a $250,000 fundraising campaign to support the foundation’s work.
