Strictly Come Dancing” star Giovanni Pernice has vehemently denied allegations of abusive or threatening behaviour towards his former dance partners, expressing his determination to clear his name. In a statement posted on Instagram, the professional dancer addressed his fans directly, stating his surprise at the allegations that have surfaced in the media.

Pernice’s full statement reads: “To my dear fans, you will be as surprised as I am that allegations have been made about my dance teaching methods in the media this week. Of course, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name. Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive. No-one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me. I have always striven to help them be the very best dancers they can be. This has always come from a place of love and wanting to win – for me and my dance partners. Thank you all again for your continued love and support! Giovanni.”

The dancer’s statement comes in response to reports that the BBC has launched an investigation into allegations made against him. Notably, legal firm Carter Ruck has claimed they are in contact with the broadcaster regarding “numerous serious complaints” about Pernice’s behaviour. However, the BBC has not released an official comment on the matter.

This situation has come as a surprise to many, given Pernice’s prominent position on one of the UK’s most popular television shows, “Strictly Come Dancing“. He first joined the show in 2015 and has since become a fan favourite, known for his passionate and competitive spirit. In 2021, he won the coveted glitterball trophy for the first time with his partner, EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis. Their victory was particularly noteworthy due to Ayling-Ellis being the first deaf contestant to compete on the show, and their partnership highlighted the beauty and power of inclusive dance.

Pernice has built a reputation not just on his dancing skills but also on his dedication to his celebrity partners and their shared goal of winning the competition. His past partners include Georgia May Foote, Ranvir Singh, and Debbie McGee, and he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to helping them excel and reach their full potential.

As the investigation unfolds, Pernice continues to receive support from his fans, many of whom have taken to social media to express their belief in his innocence. The dancer himself remains focused on clearing his name, and it is expected that both the BBC and Carter Ruck will provide further updates as their respective processes progress.

In the meantime, this story has sparked important conversations about the boundaries of competitive spirit and the treatment of dance partners, highlighting the fine line between passion and potential misconduct.

The BBC is yet to comment on the status of Pernice’s involvement in future “Strictly” seasons or any interim measures taken during the investigation.
