This December, BBC One and iPlayer bring back the dynamic detective duo of Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott in Strike: The Ink Black Heart, a new four-part thriller based on J.K. Rowling’s (writing as Robert Galbraith) latest novel.

Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger return as Strike and Robin, respectively, this time confronting the dark side of the internet. Their latest case begins with a cry for help from Edie Ledwell, the creator of a controversial online cartoon. Haunted by an anonymous online stalker calling themselves “Anomie,” Ledwell finds her fears dismissed when her plea for help is initially rejected.

Weeks later, Ledwell turns up dead in Highgate Cemetery, a chilling echo of her own cartoon’s setting. Now, Strike and Robin must hunt down the elusive Anomie, a digital phantom hidden behind a screen of online aliases. The investigation leads them down a rabbit hole of online deception, buried family secrets, and simmering resentments.

As the lines between the virtual and real worlds blur, Strike and Robin find their partnership – and their sanity – stretched to the breaking point. Ruth Sheen, Jack Greenlees, and Natasha O’Keeffe reprise their supporting roles, while new faces include David Westhead, Christian McKay, and Emma Fielding. Directed by Sue Tully and adapted by Tom Edge, The Ink Black Heart hints at a descent into the darkest corners of the web, promising a gripping new chapter in the Strike saga.
