A new reality series, Survival Mode, premieres Monday, July 7 at 10 PM ET on NBC, opening its first season with the harrowing story of Hurricane Ian. The initial episode recounts firsthand accounts from residents who fought against the storm’s destruction in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.
Hurricane Ian became one of Florida’s deadliest storms in decades, leaving a trail of ruin in its wake. This series aims to put a human face on these large-scale events, using survivor testimonies and archival footage to chronicle some of the most recent major disasters.
Over nine episodes, the series will give an intimate look at survival against overwhelming odds. Future episodes in the first season will explore events like the Maui wildfires, the Amtrak 501 derailment, Superstorm Sandy, and the sinking of the Costa Concordia.
Survival Mode will be available for streaming on Peacock the day after its television broadcast.
