Susan Calman continues her travels around the British coastline this week with a trip to the classic Yorkshire resort of Bridlington. Airing at 8:00 PM GMT on Channel 5, this episode of Susan Calman’s Grand Day Out is a whirlwind tour of seaside nostalgia, featuring fairground rides, local food, and a special celebrity guest.
Arriving on the all-electric land train, Susan heads straight for the fairground for a game of hook-a-duck and a spin on the teacups. She then boards the Yorkshire Belle, Bridlington’s last remaining pleasure cruiser, for a trip to Flamborough Head. Along the way, she follows in the footsteps of British entertainment legends like Ken Dodd and Morecambe and Wise with a visit to the Bridlington Spa.
As the lobster capital of Europe, Bridlington’s answer to fish and chips is freshly caught lobster, which Susan eagerly samples. She is later joined by pop icon Sinitta, who shares fond memories of her own childhood summers spent in the town. Together, they explore a charming toy town and attempt to spot puffins during the local Puffin Festival.
For her final stop, Susan finds a cozy B&B in Flamborough village that has a sideline in traditional Gansey jumpers, capping off a perfect day at the seaside.
