Swamp People: Serpent Invasion “On the Scent” (History, Thursday, January 23, 2025)

History’s “Swamp People: Serpent Invasion” returns with “On the Scent,” and if the title is anything to go by, things are about to get… smelly. This week, the hunters are employing new tactics (and some furry friends) in their ongoing battle against the invasive Burmese pythons wreaking havoc in the Florida Everglades.

Troy and Pickle decide to enlist the help of a hunting dog, a decision they may soon regret. Controlling a hyperactive hound while trying to wrangle giant snakes? Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Meanwhile, Zak and Aaron ditch the airboats and take to kayaks, paddling into uncharted territory. One can only hope they packed extra bug spray. And in a slightly more eerie turn of events, Bruce and Kaylyn find themselves on an island with a shadowy past. Because who doesn’t love a little spooky backstory with their snake hunting?

“Swamp People: Serpent Invasion” continues to highlight the very real ecological threat posed by these invasive pythons. It’s an educational show dressed up in reality TV garb, and while the formula can feel a bit repetitive, the sheer audacity of the hunters and the impressive size of their quarry keeps things watchable.
