Foxtel is cracking the oven door on another season of The Great Australian Bake Off, with Season 8 set to premiere Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 7:30 PM AEST on Foxtel and BINGE.
The tent’s back up, the bakers are prepped, and the sugar is already flying. Twelve amateur bakers will face 30 challenges over 10 weeks, with one crowned Australia’s best by the end. On the judging side, Rachel Khoo and Darren Purchese return to taste, critique, and cheerlead. Hosting duties fall once again to Natalie Tran, joined this season by comedian Tom Walker, whose left-field humour is expected to shake up the show’s tone without disrupting its comfort-first core.
This year, the challenges are tougher. Think gravity-defying layer cakes, edible terrariums, and precision biscuit sculptures. A themed Earth Week episode will also focus on sustainability, with raw bakes and zero-waste recipes in the spotlight.
Diversity remains a clear strength of the new lineup. Contestants range from a vegan barista to a stay-at-home pâtisserie fanatic. Other entrants include a nurse, a data analyst, and a stylist, each bringing their own flavour and flair to the bench.
Now entering its eighth local season, the Australian version continues to draw loyal viewers and solid ratings for Foxtel. The UK original, which first aired in 2010, has since sparked global spin-offs and remains one of the most exported competition formats in unscripted TV.
With Tran and Walker at the helm, the show is clearly leaning harder into its comedy angle, but the heart of the format remains intact. Big bakes, big pressure, and quiet acts of kitchen resilience.
