Disney+ has announced Tamara Smart will join the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians as Thalia Grace, the daughter of Zeus, in the show’s upcoming second season. Known for her role in Resident Evil, Smart will appear alongside series regulars Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri. The new season is adapted from The Sea of Monsters, the second book in the popular Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan.
Thalia, a rebellious demigod and skilled warrior, plays a key role in the story after sacrificing herself to protect her friends. Rather than die, she is transformed into a tree that powers the magical barrier protecting Camp Half-Blood. Smart’s portrayal brings a bold, punk-like energy to the character, fitting perfectly with Thalia’s tough and loyal nature.
The casting holds special significance for Smart as she previously worked with the late Lance Reddick, who portrayed Zeus in season one. The second season is currently in production in Vancouver, with a planned release on Disney+ in 2025.
