On Thursday, May 2, Tamron Hall welcomes genealogist Katy Bodenhorn Barnes and interior decorator Chelsey Brown to discuss their work in helping people trace their roots and reconnect with their family histories.
Katy Bodenhorn Barnes, a professional genealogist, will share her expertise in family history research. Barnes is the Director of Genealogical Services and Programs at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and has completed numerous research projects worldwide. With a B.A. in Family History and Genealogy, she specializes in a range of research areas, including immigration, Hispanic/Latin American research, and African heritage research.
Chelsey Brown, an interior decorator, author, and self-proclaimed “heirloom hunter,” will discuss her unique journey into genealogy and antiquing. Brown, who grew up with a genealogist father, began wondering about the original owners of the furniture and objects she encountered in her design work. She started visiting flea markets and auction houses, searching for family heirlooms to reunite with their rightful owners. Brown has since returned hundreds of heirlooms and shared her process on social media, inspiring others to reconnect with their family histories.
The episode will also feature a personal story from Tamron Hall, as genealogist Katy Bodenhorn Barnes shares her findings about Hall’s family history. The show will also unite a father with his son for the first time after 50 years of separation.
Tamron Hall airs weekdays at 10:00 a.m. on ABC.
